Apple Dumplings
Exquisite Apple Dumplings
Ingredients:
- 2 (8 ounce) cans of crescent rolls
- 2 sticks of butter
- 1½ cups of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 ½ cups of 7 Up (or any other lemon soda)
- 2 apples
Instructions:
- Grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish generously with butter.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and core the apples, then slice each apple into 8 wedges.
- Roll each apple wedge in a crescent roll and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.
- Pour the buttery sugar mixture over the apple-filled crescent rolls in the baking dish.
- Carefully pour the lemon soda into the center and along the edges of the baking dish, avoiding pouring directly over the rolls.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the dumplings turn a beautiful golden brown.
- Serve the apple dumplings warm.
Note: This recipe yields 16 dumplings using 2 apples.
